Look at the size of this one, dear lord! What a whopper! This 1.5L Laphroaig 17 Years Old Whisky Live Spa 1991 is a limited-edition Laphroaig single malt that should last a while after you open it. It was bottled by the Belgian independent bottler Taste Still exclusively for the Whisky Live 2010 event in Spa. The whisky was distilled in 1991 and matured for 17 years. The Laphroaig distillery on Islay was founded in 1815 by the brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston. Ian Hunter was the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery. When he died childless in 1954, he left Laphroaig to Bessie Williamson, the first female manager of a Scotch whisky distillery. In 2005, the distillery was acquired by Fortune Brands, which changed to Beam Inc. in 2011. Beam was purchased by the Japanese Suntory Holdings in 2014, creating Beam Suntory. Only 30 bottles of Laphroaig 17 Years Old Whisky Live Spa 1991 have been released.
