Laphroaig began like so many Scottish distilleries as a farm still. Barley was grown mostly as feed for cattle but leftover barley, well that became whisky. By 1815 the word had got around that the whisky being made by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnstone was so good, that the brothers soon decided to ditch the cattle farming and focus on their whisky. These days it is the only whisky to have the Royal Warrant of the Prince of Wales and we hear whispers that it’s actually his favourite brand of whisky. Laphroaig 18 Years Old Gift Set comes with everything you need to enjoy Laphroaig. It contains a bottle of the incredible 18 year old, plus two glasses in a beautiful gift box. We couldn’t make whisky drinking any easier, just crack it open and start pouring! The nose has notes of iodine, moss, lemon and seasalt. The palate is oily and smoky with coastal notes, red apples, peaches and pears. The finish is long with oak and earth. Please note: it takes up two spaces in a parcel.
