Laphroaig 25 Years Old is the 2019 release of Laphroaig’s annual 25-year-old single malt. This exceptional whisky is velvety and mildly smoky, with notes of apricot, peach and herbal spice. It matured for 25 years in bourbon casks and was bottled in 2019 at a cask strength of 51.4%. Laphroaig 25 Years Old comes in a stylish white wooden box. In 1815, brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston founded the Laphroaig distillery on their farmland on the south coast of Islay. They were already growing barley as feed for their cattle, so they decided to distil whisky from the surplus barley. Laphroaig stayed in the hands of the Johnston family for the next 139 years. When Ian Hunter, the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery, died childless in 1954, he left Laphroaig to distillery manager Bessie Williamson. The distillery is now owned by Beam Suntory.
