Laphroaig 32 Years Old Cask Strength 2015 is a limited-edition single malt from the Islay distillery Laphroaig. The whisky matured for 32 years in ex-Oloroso sherry hogsheads, giving it a profound character with notes of dark bitter chocolate, nutmeg, spicy oak and a touch of peaty smoke. It was bottled in May 2015 at a cask strength of 46.6%. In 1815, brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston founded the Laphroaig distillery on their farmland on the south coast of Islay. They were already growing barley as feed for their cattle, so they decided to distil whisky from the surplus barley. Laphroaig stayed in the hands of the Johnston family for the next 139 years. When Ian Hunter, the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery, died childless in 1954, he left Laphroaig to distillery manager Bessie Williamson. Only 5880 bottles of Laphroaig 32 Years Old Cask Strength 2015 have been released.
