Laphroaig PX Cask is a travel retail exclusive bottling of triple-matured Laphroaig single malt. The whisky first matured in ex-bourbon barrels, before being transferred to quarter casks. Finally, it matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It was bottled at 48% ABV. The Laphroaig distillery on Islay was founded in 1815 by the brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston. Ian Hunter was the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery. When he died childless in 1954, he left Laphroaig to Bessie Williamson, the first female manager of a Scotch whisky distillery. In 2005, the distillery was acquired by Fortune Brands, which changed to Beam Inc. in 2011. Beam was purchased by the Japanese Suntory Holdings in 2014, creating Beam Suntory.
