Littlemill offers a rare window into the past with this celebratory bottling in honour of the distillery’s 250th anniversary. Littlemill, Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, was founded in 1772 in the Scottish Lowlands and operated until 1994. Littlemill 45 Years Old 250th Anniversary draws on the oldest and rarest reserves of the last remaining Littlemill liquid. The exceptional spirit has been taken from a single distillation on 4 October 1976. It was recasked in 1996 into two refill American oak hogsheads, and finished for a final six months in first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads before bottling. The result is a delicately floral whisky with a silk-like mouthfeel. Crème caramel and mouth-watering green fruits on the palate are followed by a long finish with warming ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. The whisky’s presentation is just as unique as the spirit itself. The handblown Glencairn decanter is presented in a wooden box inspired by a Victorian bellows camera. For this special release, Master Blender Michael Henry has teamed up with world-renowned photographer Stefan Sappert to bring together two crafts that capture and revive the past. With his traditional Victorian cameras, Stefan has created 250 silver on black glass plate photographs, recapturing the view from the banks of the river Clyde towards the original Littlemill distillery. Each Littlemill 45 Years Old 250th Anniversary comes with an entirely unique, signed and individually numbered plate. The box further contains a book covering the history of Littlemill and photography, and a 5cl miniature. Please note that it takes up two spaces in a a parcel.
