Plantation Rum is an artisanal range of rums from distilleries all around the world. The range was created in the 1990s by Alexandre Gabriel, owner of Maison Ferrand. After ageing in the tropics, the rums are transported to France for a final maturation in cognac barrels at the Ferrand cellars. Long Pond 27 Years Old Plantation Rum LMDW Antipodes 1995 is part of the Collection Antipodes from La Maison du Whisky, one of three single cask rums selected for this 2022 series. The rum carries the STCE marque, indicating it is a heavy pot still rum with an ester level of 690 gr/hL AA, enriched with dunder and muck. It first matured for 23 years in bourbon barrels, followed by a continental finish in a barrel previously used to age Ferrand’s renowned 10 Générations cognac. The result is a rum with an exceptional minerality and harmonious notes of intense hydrocarbons, exotic fruits and heady flowers.
