Longrow 18 Years Old 2024 is an annual limited-edition release of Springbank’s double distilled heavily peated single malt. Longrow has a unique Campbeltown-style smoky character. The whisky was first distilled in 1973 to provide a peaty, oily and robust component to blends, but it soon became so popular on its own that it has been a staple in the distillery’s core range since the 1990s. Longrow 18 Years Old 2024 matured for 18 years in a combination of 90% sherry and 10% port casks and is bottled at 46%. The single malt opens with aromas of blackberry jam, walnuts, liquorice and a subtle smokiness on the nose. The peat smoke continues on the palate and notes of black forest gateaux, maraschino cherries, dates and dark chocolate ganache are introduced. The finish is long and gentle with hints of coffee beans, sea salt and peat smoke.
