Springbank’s heavily peated malt, first distilled in 1973, is named after the nearby Longrow distillery, which operated between 1824 and 1896. When Longrow closed, the Mitchell family bought the distillery’s buildings. One of Longrow’s surviving warehouses is still used by Springbank as a bottling hall. Longrow 9 Years Old Signatory Vintage 1987 is an early bottling of Longrow single malt, released by indie bottler Signatory Vintage. The whisky was distilled on 19 June 1987 and aged for 9 years in casks #144, #145 and #146. They yielded 1040 bottles in total in October 1996. The bottle comes in an awesome retro tube.
