Longueteau Genesis Collection 2018 is a limited-edition rhum agricole from the Longueteau Domaine in Guadeloupe. Unlike rum, which is made from molasses, rhum agricole is made directly from sugarcane juice, in this case from the domaine’s own red cane R579. Longueteau Genesis Collection 2018 spent 24 months in stainless steel casks, allowing it to be bottled at distillation strength – a staggering 72.7% ABV. The Longueteau distillery in Guadeloupe started out as a small sugar refinery. In 1895, Henri Longueteau transformed it into a rhum distillery. Longueteau is the only distillery in Guadeloupe that exclusively uses its own cane. The rhum is distilled using a traditional column still. The fourth Longueteau generation currently manages the distillery. Only 5000 bottles of Longueteau Genesis Collection 2018 have been released.
