Macallan A Night on Earth in Scotland is a festive whisky released in honor of the Scottish New Year’s festival Hogmanay. For A Night on Earth in Scotland, Macallan selected its finest American and European sherry-seasoned oak casks, as well as American ex-bourbon barrels. The whisky’s flavour is inspired by the Hogmanay custom of ‘first footing’, in which the first person to enter your home during the new year brings good fortune. The ‘first footer’ is expected to bring gifts: traditionally shortbread, whisky and coal for the fire. Macallan A Night on Earth in Scotland, accordingly, has a sweet character reminiscent of shortbread, as well as festive notes of cinnamon, dried oranges and toasted marshmallows. The unique multi-layered gift box is designed by the Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn and represents several aspects of Hogmanay.
