A very rare and amazing 40-year-old Macallan-Glenlivet that was bottled in the late 1970s (meaning that it was distilled in the 1930s). This bottle was released to the Italian market by Ferdinando Fiori, the founder the somewhat forgotten but legendary importing and distribution company Intertrade. Together with a handful of Italian companies, Fiori was way ahead of his time. He spent a good amount of time and money to select only the very best whisky casks, in an era where whisky was less popular than it is today. Due to these efforts, the single malt business in Italy became booming in the 1980s. Through people like Fiori, many great Gordon & Macphail releases found their way to the European mainland. This 40-year-old Macallan-Glenlivet Pure Malt Scotch Whisky is bottled at 70 Great Britain Proof, which translates to 40% ABV. The bottle holds 0.75L, which was a common volume in Italy at the time. Back in the day, distilleries in the Glenlivet area used this name to market their whisky as a strong regional product. The Glenlivet Distillery won a lawsuit to prohibit the use of this name.
