In 2018, Macallan rebranded their premium Rare Cask series. The bottles now feature more details about their creation, such as the batch number, the year of release, and information about the casks used in the process. The box also got a fancy new design! The first batch of the annual series was released in September 2018. Two others followed shortly after, and each subsequent year four bottlings will be released. According to Macallan, less than 1% of the casks laid down was deemed worthy enough to use in the creation of this whisky. Each batch is a vatting of 50 barrels. Batch No. 1 was matured in American and European sherry-seasoned oak casks for an undisclosed number of years, and was bottled in 2018 at 43% ABV. 27500 bottles of Macallan Rare Cask Batch No. 1 (2018 Release) were released.
