Whisky is a thing of beauty—in every sense of the word. The Masters Decanter Series highlights the natural colour of Macallan’s single malts, achieved through maturation in the finest oak casks. Each release in the series is presented in an elegant Lalique crystal decanter, the angular facets reflecting the light to showcase the depth of colour. Macallan Reflexion matured exclusively in first-fill Spanish and American sherry-seasoned oak casks. A high proportion of these are smaller hogsheads, which allow for a more intense contact between the spirit and the wood. The whisky has taken on a deep red mahogany hue. It is bold and full-bodied with aromas of orange zest, apricot, fresh green apples, white chocolate, toffee and boiled sweets. An initial note of citrus zest gives way to sweet lemon and orange on the palate. Subtle hints of raisins, sultana, apple, cinnamon and ginger are present in the background. The finish is soft with boiled sweets and toasted oak. Please note: the Macallan Reflexion takes up three spaces in a parcel. This edition was bottled in 2014.
