Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old 2019 is the 2019 release of the much-anticipated annual 18 Year Old Sherry Oak bottling from The Macallan. The whisky matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain and is bottled at 43% ABV. The Speyside distillery Macallan started as a small, illicit farm distillery and grew to be one of the leading brands on the whisky market today. Located on the 485-acre Macallan Estate, it produces the third best-selling malt whisky in the world. The distillery was licensed to the local farmer Alexander Reid in 1824, then known as the Elchies Distillery. When Reid passed away in 1847, the distillery was taken over by his partners James Shearer Priest and James Davidson. Macallan changed ownership several more times over the years, and has been in the hands of the Edrington Group since 1999. In 2018, The Macallan opened a brand-new distillery and visitor centre on their stunning Easter Elchies Estate.
