The distillery’s highly anticipated annual Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey was first released in May 2015, marking an amazing milestone in the quest to re-establish the high-quality American rye whiskey category. Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey is drawn from a single charred new American white oak barrel, making each edition unique. The rye distillate is entered into the barrel at a relatively low proof of 103, resulting in a richer, smoother and more full-bodied whiskey. Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey Barrel #L22B323 was bottled in 2022 at a barrel strength of 109.6 proof, or 54.8% ABV. The whiskey offers butterscotch and cinnamon, with a hint of cherries on the nose. The palate is warming with rich, toasty vanilla and caramel upfront, and a dry oaky spice on the finish.
