Midleton Very Rare 2014 is a limited-edition triple distilled Irish whiskey. It is a combination of single pot still and grain whiskeys that matured between 12 and 25 years in lightly charred ex-bourbon barrels. The Very Rare range was introduced in 1984. The 2014 bottling is the first release selected by Midleton’s new master distiller Brian Nation, who took over after Barry Crockett retired in 2013. The Midleton Distillery was built after John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (which owned the Old Midleton distillery at the time) merged to form the Irish Distillers Group in 1966. Since 1975, all their brands have been made at the new distillery.
