Velier’s Flora Antillarum range, inspired by engravings of local fruit, features rums from the distilleries of Guadeloupe. Montebello 19 Years Old Flora Antillarum 2002, is a blend between an agricole and a traditional rum. It was distilled in February 2002, and matured for 19 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks. In 2022, it was bottled at a full proof of 41.3%. Montebello, also known as the Carrère distillery, was founded in 1930, by the Dolomie family. The distillery was taken over by the Marsolle family in 1965, and has remained family-run throughout its existence. Montebello uses only hand-picked sugarcane from the volcanic regions of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin and Sainte-Rose. It is also one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to use steam engines.
