An 11-year-old single malt from the Mortlach distillery, released by Signatory Vintage for the Cask Strength Collection. The whisky was distilled on 8 February 2010 and initially matured in refill hogsheads. It was then finished in a fresh sherry butt for 13 months and bottled on 17 February 2021 at 58.2% ABV. Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown, and is named after the ancient parish in which the town is located. It was founded in 1823 by James Findlater. The distillery changed ownership several times in its early history. At one point it even became a brewery, as a result of James and John Grant moving all the distilling equipment to their new Glen Grant distillery. They sold Mortlach again immediately after (rude!), but luckily the next owner replaced the stills and Mortlach became a whisky distillery again. For several years, Mortlach was the only distillery in Dufftown, until Glenfiddich was founded in 1887. Only 492 bottles of Mortlach 11 Years Old 2010 Signatory Vintage have been released.
