Mortlach 32 Years Old Diageo Special Releases 1971 is a limited-edition single malt from the Dufftown distillery Mortlach, bottled in 2004 as part of Diageo’s annual Special Releases. The whisky was distilled in Mortlach’s unique Byzantine configuration of three wash and three spirit stills, and matured for 32 years in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.1%. Mortlach 32 Years Old Diageo Special Releases 1971 has a complex, light and soft nose with aromas of oiled wood, leather books, green bananas, Demerara sugar and vanilla ice cream. Some peaty smokiness and a dusty and waxy note then come to the fore. The palate is smooth with layers of perfume, vanilla, malty sweetness and woody, smoky dryness. The finish is long and drying with hints of liquorice and pepper.
