Nikka is the second largest distiller in Japan. The company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, and currently produces a wide range of whiskies and other spirits at their Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. The Coffey still, the first patented continuous still, was invented by Aeneas Coffey in 1830. Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru learned to distil grain whisky in a Coffey still while apprenticing in Scotland. The first Coffey still was imported to Japan in 1963, followed by a second one in 1966. They were both transferred to Nikka’s Miyagikyo distillery in 1999. The Nikka Coffey Set showcases four flagship bottlings produced by Nikka using Coffey stills. The set includes a grain whisky, malt whisky, gin and vodka. It takes four spaces in a parcel.
