Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt, named after the father of Japanese whisky: Masataka Taketsuru. The blend is made with whiskies from Nikka’s Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, and achieves an exquisite balance between elegant softness and deep complexity. After studying the art of whisky-making in Scotland, Masataka Taketsuru returned to Japan where he began developing the country’s first genuine whisky. In 1934, Taketsuru established Nikka and founded the Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Nikka’s second distillery, Miyagikyo, was built in 1969 on Japan’s main island Honshu.
