Former Bruichladdich CEO Mark Reynier launched the Octomore Renegade in 2014 as a limited two bottle series. Both 6-years-old, both from single casks and both named after figures from Greek Mythology. Meleager was one of the Greek heroes that defeated the Calydonian Boar, a giant monster that is now mythical bacon. Much like that bacon, this heavily peated Islay single malt whisky is quite mythical and fabled. The other Octomore Renegade is called Epione and was named after the Greek goddess of soothing pain (which we think is very apt for a whisky).
