Each year on September 2nd, Brown-Forman releases a new edition of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon to celebrate the birthday of George Garvin Brown, one of the distillery’s founders. The 8th release in the series is a 12-year-old bourbon that was distilled in the spring of 1997 and bottled in 2009 at 97 proof. In 1870, George Garvin Brown started the whisky company J.T.S. Brown and Bro. together with his half-brother. Their flagship Old Forester brand was the first bourbon to be sold in sealed glass bottles. When the original partnership ended, Brown partnered with George Forman and the company’s name was changed to Brown-Forman.
