A bottle of Old Grand-Dad 114 Proof Special Selection from the early 1980s, bottled straight from the barrel. This bottle has lot number #4 on the label. A 1982 ad for Old Grand-Dad 114 Proof shows a pickup truck carrying a whole barrel of 114 Proof: “So smooth, some people won’t go anywhere without the barrel. Slightly more portable by the bottle.” Props to the 1980s marketing manager who came up with that, we love it! This bottle was made under supervision of National Distillers, who owned this national treasure for decades before it was sold to Jim Beam. This bottle comes in the original cardboard box, which has seen wear and tear through the decades.
