A 1973 bottling of Old Grand-Dad Bourbon, distilled by National Distillers and bottled at 86 proof. Old Grand-Dad was created by Raymond B. Hayden in the late 19th century. He named the brand in honor of his grandfather Meredith Basil Hayden Sr., a well-known distiller in the 18th century, known as the ‘Father of High Rye Bourbon’. The unmistakable portrait of Basil Hayden Sr. is depicted on each bottle. Old Grand-Dad was produced by National Distillers at the Old Grand-Dad Distillery until 1987, when Jim Beam purchased the brand and moved production to their Beam distillery. The Old Grand-Dad site is silent now, operating only as a warehouse facility.
