Old Grand-Dad was created by Raymond B. Hayden in the late 19th century. The grand-dad in question is Meredith Basil Hayden Sr., who was a well-known distiller in the 18th century. A portrait of Basil Hayden Sr. is depicted on each bottle. Old Grand-Dad was produced by National Distillers at the Old Grand-Dad Distillery until 1987, when Jim Beam purchased the brand and moved production to their Beam distillery. These are post 1987 bottles, aka Beam booze.
