This Old Grand-Dad Bourbon Italian Import made it to European shores in the 1970s. The Italians loved their bourbon whiskey back in those days liked they love their pasta: plentiful. Brands like these and many others were exported in great volumes. Old Grand-Dad was created by Raymond B. Hayden. The brand is named after his grandfather Meredith Basil Hayden Sr., who was a well known distiller during his lifetime. A portrait of Hayden Sr. is depicted on the front of each bottle. This is one of the good ole’ extra yummy dusty bottles, still distilled and bottled by National Distillers at Old Grand-Dad distillery in the 1970s. Jim Beam purchased the brand in 1987 and moved its production to their Beam distillery. The Old Grand-dad site is silent now, operating only as a warehouse facility.
