The historical Old Taylor brand was created in the 1880s by bourbon pioneer Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. Old Taylor was acquired by National Distillers during Prohibition and quickly became one of the company’s flagship brands. It was sold to Jim Beam in 1987, who continued bottling the regular releases until they ran out of barrels. In 2009, Beam sold the brand to Sazerac and the bourbon is now made at Buffalo Trace. Old Taylor 86 Proof 1968 Italian Export, is a good ol’ dusty from the 1960s. It was produced at the original Old Taylor distillery in Frankfort, and bottled at 86 proof for the Italian market.
