Old Taylor Kentucky Straight Bourbon! This antique bourbon brand was named after whiskey pioneer Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., better known as Colonel E. H. Taylor today. National Distillers owned the Old Taylor brand since Prohibition ended and they kept the license until the 1980s. The juice was made in a friggin’ distilling castle in the heart of Kentucky! After the site was abandoned in the 70s, the castle gradually turned into a pile of rubble. (It was restored again as a new distillery in 2015, for those who fear a sad ending to this story). The Old Taylor brand and the remaining stock were bought by Beam in the 1980s, together with the Old Crowe and Old Grand Dad distilleries. Beam went on bottling the regular releases until they ran out of Old Taylor barrels. In 2009, Beam sold the brand to Sazerac.
