Port Charlotte 21 Years Old Collective Series 2001 is a rare heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, named after a lost Islay distillery. It was bottled by Caskshare, a company that partners with the finest distilleries to make exclusive single cask whiskies available for its members. At 21 years, this is the oldest Port Charlotte on the market today. The spirit originally matured in a refill bourbon hogshead. In 2009, it was transferred into a Saint-Julien ex-Bordeaux red wine cask, and in January 2020 the whisky was once again put into an ex-bourbon barrel. After a total maturation of 21 years in these three unique casks, the single malt was bottled in February 2023 at a cask strength of 60.1%. With notes of mango and sweet tropical fruits comes a soft and warm waft of vanilla and malt biscuits. The syrupy softness of the barley sugar contrasts with fiery and spicy notes. The undercurrent of caramel mingles with a delicate maritime smoke.
