Another beloved Port Ellen. This bottle from the legendary lost Islay distillery contains some of the most sought-after whisky in the world. Port Ellen 24 Years Old Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice 1982 was distilled before the age of the millennial, in 1982. Port Ellen arose on the south coast of Islay in 1825, before expanding in 1967 and then again in 1973 at an adjacent site. Ten years later they closed their doors because of a plummeting demand for whisky at the time. Thankfully for collectors, we can still get our hands on these lovely bottles. On the nose you’ll find aromas of fresh fruit, citrus and minerals with a touch of salt and herbs. The palate will leave you with a residue of slight oil, light smoke, and a bit of spice, followed by minerals and salty caramel. This long finish will leave your taste buds dancing.
