Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, once created by Stitzel-Weller, later purchased by Luxco, distilled by Heaven Hill and in this case bottled somewhere in the nineties. This release is part of the Deep-South series and it still bears the Confederates flag on the label. They only produced this specific release to be exported to Europe, where the Confederate flag was perceived as less offensive. What did this infamous yell sound like? War-veteran J. Harvey Dew described it in 1911. He says a singular, distinctive cry sounded only when charging the enemy. According to Dew, it sounded something like: ‘Wah, who—ey, who——ey, who——ey.’ (sic). Brand owner Luxco decided to take the flag off the bottle a few years ago.
