Rosebank 20 Years Old Chieftain’s Choice 1990 Cask #3616 is a limited-edition Lowland single malt from the closed Rosebank distillery, bottled by Ian Macleod for the Chieftain’s Choice range. The whisky was distilled in December 1990 and matured for 20 years in sherry butt #3616. It was bottled in September 2011 at 55.7%. The result is a sweet and fruity dram with gentle spices. The Rosebank distillery was founded in Falkirk at the end of the 18th century, and changed locations several times in its turbulent history. Rosebank was once one of the most popular Lowland whiskies, but in 1993 the distillery was mothballed, making bottlings of this single malt extremely rare. Ian Macleod Distillers bought Rosebank from Diageo in 2017, and began work to revive the distillery. In June 2023, the first new make spirit in 30 years flowed off the stills at Rosebank. One of 619 bottles.
