The Royal Brackla distillery in the Scottish Highlands was the very first Scottish distillery to receive a royal status. King William IV bestowed this honor upon them in 1833, just ten years after distilling whisky was legalized in Scotland. It is one of only three distilleries that can bear the name ‘Royal’. This single malt was aged in a bourbon barrel for nine years before being bottled by the Dutch independent bottler Van Wees for their internationally acclaimed The Ultimate series. It is one of only 311 bottles.
