The Martinique AOC (Appellation d’origine Contrôlée) was established in 1996. This French designation preserves the authentic methods of Martinique’s agricultural rum and protects its identity. In honour of the 25th anniversary of the Martinique AOC, the only AOC outside Europe, Velier has released a series of ten millésimes (or vintages) from the Saint James distillery. This celebratory range marks the distillery’s very first co-bottling. 2010 was a very rainy year, resulting in a freshly distilled rum rich in fresh sugar cane and lemon zest aromas. Saint-James 2010 Velier 25th AOC Anniversary has an intense, fine nose of candied bergamot, plums and sweet coffee with a hint of cinnamon in the background. On the palate you’ll find notes of candied bergamot, plums and prunes. Light coffee and wood linger on the finish.
