Savanna 12 Years Old Single Cask 2004 #973 is a limited-edition rhum traditionnel vieux from the Savanna distillery on the isle of Réunion. The rum was distilled during the 2003 sugar season, and was put in a cognac cask on 10 May 2004. It was finished in an ex-port cask, and bottled in July 2016 after a total maturation of 12 years. Savanna is a rum distillery in the French overseas department of Réunion, an island near Madagascar. It was founded in 1870 in Saint-Paul, on the west coast of the island. In 1992, the distillery was moved to the site of the Bois-Rouge sugar factory on the north-east of the island. Savanna produces both traditional rum (made from molasses) and agricultural rum (made from pure sugarcane juice), a rare practice for rum distilleries. Every part of the process happens on-site, from harvesting the sugarcane to bottling the rum. One of 1480 bottles.
