This bottle of 18-year-old Sazerac Rye was released in Fall 2010 as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC), a series of highly-collectible limited releases from the renowned Buffalo Trace distillery. It was distilled in 1985. ‘Wouldn’t that make it 25 years old?’, you may ask, even if you suck at math. Technically, yes. But this Sazerac Rye was removed from its barrels in 2003 and transferred into stainless steel tanks. Stainless steel tanks are often used at distilleries to store whiskey without aging it any further. This way the distillery could release small quantities of the whiskey every year.
