Shizouka is an exciting new development on the Japanese whisky front. The brainchild of Taiko Makamura, president of the Scotch Whisky importer Gaia Flow in 2016, he had the ingenious idea of salvaging the distilling equipment from the recently closed Karuizawa distillery. Only one of these stills could be used and so another pair was commissioned from Forsyths to keep the good stuff flowing. With a stylish wooden display box and only 47 bottles produced, this is a rare gem of Japanese whisky.
