Springbank 12 Years Old Cask Strength is a highly anticipated semi-annual release from the Springbank distillery, launched in 2010. Springbank 12 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 10 was bottled in 2014 at a cask strength of 53.2%. Matured in a combination of 70% sherry and 30% bourbon casks, the single malt has a great balance between peat and fruity sweetness. The nose is sweet and fruity with aromas of orange peel, peach, citrus, nuts, caramel, spices and smoke, as well as some menthol freshness and salty sea breeze. The sweetness becomes more evident on the palate, with notes of honey, milk chocolate, orange peel, cranberry, ginger, cinnamon, oily nuts, peat and pepper. The finish is long and peaty with a lingering sweetness and hints of chocolate, honey, caramel, spices and bitter citrus.
