Campbeltown was once seen as the whisky capital of the world. At its height, the town boasted over thirty distilleries! Production greatly declined in the early 20th century, and today there are only three distilleries left. Perhaps the most famous of these is Springbank, founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family and still owned today by their descendants. Springbank 17 Years Old Hart Brothers Finest Collection 1996 is a single cask whisky from this unique distillery, bottled by renowned independent bottler Hart Brothers for the Finest Collection. The whisky was distilled in October 1996 and aged in a sherry hogshead for 17 years. It was bottled in June 2014 at a cask strength of 51.5%. Springbank 17 Years Old Hart Brothers Finest Collection 1996 is a fresh and fruity Springbank. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of sherry, fresh mint, citrus, pineapple, vanilla, herbs and coffee. The palate is mouthcoating with notes of honey, malt, apples, leather and citrus, leading to a finish with lingering hints of passion fruit, chocolate and bitter oak.
