Now this is a great catch… A superb old-style Springbank from 1974. Locked away for 28 years to mature and bottled as part of a private bottling in 2003. Only 630 bottles were drawn from cask 1157 so this is not your everyday whisky. At Springbank every part of the whisky making process is carried out onsite by an expert team. As one of only three remaining distilleries in the region that used to be called “The Whisky Capital of the World”, they must be doing something right! Springbank 1974-2003 Private Bottling Cask #1157 has a nose of tropical fruits, orange and lemon with smoky salt swirling about. The palate is refined with lemon candy, peach and a slightly waxy character. The finish is long and luxurious with warm citrus and smoke. First-class stuff!
