Ooo, 31-year-old Springbank? We like! This limited-edition single cask malt was bottled by Ian Macleod for the Chieftain’s range. The whisky was distilled in 1974 and matured in refill butt #1158 for 31 years. It was bottled in 2005 at 57.2%. Springbank is one of the three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, which was once one of the most prolific whisky distilling areas of Scotland. It was founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family, who had been living in the region since the 17th century. Descendants of the Mitchell family still own the distillery today, making Springbank the oldest family-owned distillery in Scotland. Only 492 bottles of Springbank 31 Years Old Chieftain’s 1974 have been released.
