The thistle is more than just a spiky flower that you see all over Scotland. Legend has it that it actually saved Scotland from an invading Norse army! Back in the thirteenth-century, the Vikings had landed in Scotland and were preparing a night-time attack on the encamped Scottish army. All was going well and the Viking army crept closer and closer. Unfortunately for them, the idea to go in barefoot was not so clever, as one soldier stood on a spiky thistle and let out a big yelp. This alerted the Scottish sentries who sounded the alarm in time for the Scots to form up and beat the Vikings back to their longboats. The thistle has been celebrated ever since, and now with Springbank C.V. Green Thistle you have even more reason to celebrate. This is a blend of whiskies aged between 7 and 14 years, matured in bourbon, sherry and port casks. The nose is briny, with vanilla and a touch of smoke and malt.
