The word cuvée originates from the wine industry and literally means ‘tank’ in French. In this case, the word is used to refer to a combination of already great whiskies coming together to create something even more amazing. This Springbank Cuvée is assembled from two different vintages from the Campbeltown distillery: a sherried oldy from 1965, and a younger whisky from 1993 that matured in a bourbon cask for 10 years. It was bottled in 2004 by the independent bottler Murray McDavid at 46% ABV. Legally this cuvée is only 10 years old, but the 38-year-old whisky adds an amazing depth and complexity to the whole. Only 1224 bottles of Springbank Cuvée 65/93 Murray McDavid were released.
