Springbank Vintage 2001 is the first batch of Springbank’s Vintage 2001 single malt. It was distilled in 2001 and matured for 8 years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, before being bottled in July 2009 at a cask strength of 55.3%. The whisky is round and complex with a nice balance between sweet, spicy and smoky notes, as well as Springbank’s signature funk. The nose is sweet and spicy with aromas of vanilla, lemon zest, marzipan, peat, spices and minerals. The palate has flavours of vanilla, caramel, orange juice, honey, grapefruit, citrus, banana and peat, leading to a long finish with notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, lemon, menthol, pepper, and a hint of smoke. Only 6000 bottles of Springbank Vintage 2001 were released.
