Strathisla is the oldest continuously operating distillery in Speyside. It was founded in 1786 by George Taylor and Alexander Milne as the Milltown Distillery, and was renamed Milton not long after. The distillery was purchased by MacDonald Ingram & Co. in 1823, and again sold to William Longmore in 1830. The distillery flourished under Longmore, and in 1870 it got its current name of Strathisla. In 1950, it became the first distillery to be acquired by Chivas Brothers, and today its malt is still at the heart of all Chivas Regal blends. Strathisla 12 Years Old Pure Highland Malt is an older bottling of the distillery’s classic smooth and lightly peated 12-year-old single malt.
