Strathisla is the oldest operating distillery in Speyside, although it’s had a few different names over the years. First it was called Miltown, then Milton, and finally they settled on Strathisla, named after the river that runs past the distillery. For years it was a core component of the Chivas blends but the whisky made here, is just as good when it’s sampled on its own. And luckily, we’re able to do just that with the Strathisla 16 Years Old Distillery Reserve Collection Single Cask 2003. Distilled in 2003 and aged for 16 years in cask #7352, this knock-out dram was bottled in 2019. And we say knockout because just look at the ABV—a stunning cask strength bottling at 62.6%. Whoa! But with only 828 bottles produced we know this one will be flying out the door, so come and catch it quick!
