This 53-year-old (!) Strathisla single malt was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Licensed Bottling series. The range celebrates the long-standing relationship Gordon & MacPhail has with many Scottish distilleries and showcases historical label designs. In the mid-20th century, the majority of a distillery’s production was used in blends. Back then, Gordon & MacPhail produced the only official single malt bottlings for these distilleries. The whisky was distilled in November 1960 and matured in a combination of three sherry casks for 53 years. It was bottled in June 2014 at 43%. Strathisla is the oldest continuously operating distillery in Speyside. It was founded in 1786 as the Milltown Distillery by George Taylor and Alexander Milne. In 1950, it became the first distillery to be acquired by Chivas Brothers, and today its malt is still at the heart of all Chivas Regal blends. Due to the size of this wonderful whisky and box, it takes up two spaces in a parcel.
