Suntory Old Whisky Expo ’90 is a rare Japanese blended whisky produced by the spirits giant Suntory. It was released in 1990 for The International Garden and Greenery Exposition in Osaka, hence the colorful flowers on the label. Suntory was founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii, who opened a wine store in Osaka. In 1923, the company built the Yamazaki Distillery, the first malt whisky distillery in Japan. Suntory acquired the bourbon producer Beam Inc. in 2014, and was renamed Beam Suntory. Suntory Old Whisky was first introduced in 1950. The blend was considered the company’s classiest whisky at the time. While single malts have now taken over that distinction, Suntory Old is still one of the most popular expressions in Japan.
